Michael R. Dezsi

Michael R. Dezsi

Michael Dezsi joined Fieger Law in March 2006 after clerking for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He specializes in both state and federal appellate practice and also handles the litigation of many constitutional cases at both the trial and appellate level.

In December 2006, Dezsi won a reversal of the federal district court's dismissal of Geoffrey Fieger's lawsuit against the four Michigan Supreme Court Justices who Fieger claims are personally biased against him. He is now litigating this case in the federal district court.

In a second lawsuit filed against the Michigan Supreme Court, Dezsi also represents Fieger, claiming that Michigan's rules of professional conduct regulating attorney speech violate both the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.

Dezsi is litigating numerous cases across the country on behalf of several individuals who have filed lawsuits against United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzales after being harassed and investigated for their political support of the John Edwards 2004 presidential campaign.

Dezsi graduated cum laude from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he served as Executive Editor of the Law Review. He is also a nationally ranked triathlete and competes in triathlons all over the country.

Law

Taking on civil rights cases can be both exhausting and discouraging in a judicial system that is often ineffective and inefficient, but the reward of helping those who have been victimized by government corruption keeps me going.

Life

I have a willingness to stand up for what is right and not for what is popular; this is a trait that is hard to come by among lawyers.

Lessons

You can lose all of the battles along the way, but still win the war!
