In fact, it’s our mission—built into the very foundation of our firm. So, if you have been affected by a faulty, defective, or recalled medical product, we can navigate complex medical product liability laws on your behalf.

We have the talent and resources to do what it takes to get you justice.

What Is Medical Device Product Liability Law?

Product Liability law provides compensation for physical injuries resulting from defective and unreasonably dangerous products.  The failure of a manufacturer or seller to warn the consumer of product dangers also falls under this area of law. This includes the manufacturer recalling a product due to risk to the consumer.

If you have been injured or affected by a defective medical product, Fieger Law, located in Southfield, is here for you. Because the nature of medical devices is that they are necessary for health (not just a luxury), producers must be held to a far higher standard.

Why Fieger Law?

Defective Hip/Joint Replacements

If you received a hip implant or other joint replacement and are experiencing complications, you may be able to sue the manufacturer for damages. For example, metal-on-metal hip replacements may fail prematurely or cause an array of complications. One such complication would be metallosis, a condition that causes inflammation and erosion of the bone structure. Other complications can include blood clots, infections at the incision site, bone fracture and hip joint dislocation.

Exactech Polyethylene Knee and Ankle Insert

Hundreds of thousands of knee and ankle replacements are performed every year in America, and many of them involved Exactech polyethylene inserts. People who received these knee and ankle replacements are at risk of suffering bone loss, instability, fracture, and more, and they deserve full and fair compensation.

Hernia Mesh

Hernia mesh is a flexible mesh that supports the weakened tissue from a hernia. Several hernia mesh products, including Atrium C-Qur and Ethicon Physiomesh, have been recalled due to painful and often disastrous side effects. Some of the common complications include pain, infection, perforation and obstruction.

Jet 7 Xtra Flex Catheter

A recall was recently issued for Jet 7 Xtra Flex catheters, commonly used in surgical procedures to remove blot clots, after a series of deaths linked to the product malfunctioning. As a result of the defective catheters expanding, fracturing, and/or separating mid-procedure, numerous patients suffered severe and sometimes fatal injuries, including hemorrhage, brain bleeds and stroke.

Paragard IUD

Paragard is an IUD (an intrauterine birth control device) that utilizes copper rather than hormones. If defective or broken, a patient can suffer from all of the following harm, among others: pelvic pain, expulsion, infections, perforation of the uterus and scarring.
