Bio
Peter O’Toole was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He earned his undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University with a major in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. Peter never thought of pursuing a career as a lawyer until a professor for his constitutional law class suggested he consider this noble path. He earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. While in law school, he was elected class president and earned several distinctions for achieving the highest grade in several courses focused on constitutional law.
After graduating law school, Peter spent a brief time working as the vice president of a non-profit organization in Lansing, Michigan, focused on criminal justice reform. He spent his time proposing policy and legislative initiatives to members of the state legislature as well as other interested organizations. Ultimately, Peter decided the best way to fight for the rights of interested parties would be in the courtroom.
Peter has represented individuals, corporations, and governmental entities in complex high-exposure cases dealing with automobile negligence, premises liability, product liability, property loss, medical malpractice matters, and civil rights actions. He’s successfully tried numerous multimillion-dollar cases to verdict. Peter has argued matters before the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court.
In addition to being licensed to practice law in Michigan, Peter is also licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District and Western District of Michigan. He has also represented clients in several other states including Indiana and Arizona.
In his free time, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and four children in addition to golfing, cooking, and enjoying the beauty Michigan has to offer.
