Prescription Drugs – Side Effects
Modern medicine offers a wide variety of prescription drugs that enhance health and extend life. But what happens if some medicines do more harm than good? The global pharmaceutical industry brings in $744 billion each year, and is dominated by 10 large drug companies that control a third of the market.
Drug companies are responsible for delivering safe products and issuing warnings about potential risks. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Complications from prescription drugs put all of us in danger and we want to hold big pharma accountable while getting you the justice you deserve.
Class Action & Civil Suits
Pharmaceutical companies are the subject of numerous class action and civil suits for drugs like Prilosec, Lipitor, and even antibiotics for the common earache. These are drugs you and your loved ones likely have in your medicine cabinet right now.
Fieger Law is not afraid to tackle the effort it requires to bring these big companies to justice. With more than 165 verdicts and settlements of $1 million or more, we know what it takes to go to trial and win. And we care.
Prescription Drugs – Fieger Law Practice Areas
You might be surprised at the long list of prescription drugs linked to serious and even fatal conditions. Here’s a few we have our eye on at Fieger Law:
SGLT2 Inhibitors/Invokana: Manufacturers of Type 2 Diabetes drugs like Invokana, which is designed to reduce blood glucose, are facing lawsuits for failure to warn patients that the medication can lead to serious and potentially fatal side effects like Fournier’s Gangrene. This is a flesh-eating bacterial infection found in the genital area.
Belviq - Belviq is a diet pill that was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher. Many cancers, however, have been linked to Belviq usage, including pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, and lung cancer.
Elmiron - The drug Elmiron is used to treat Interstitial Cystitis, which is an issue within the urinary tract system that can lead to pain in the abdominal and pelvic regions. When a patient has been exposed to Elmiron long term, there is a risk of vision loss or blindness.
Flu Vaccine Injury: Recent cases have shown that flu vaccines are causing significant illness and injury to patients. Some known effects are paralysis, debilitating neurological conditions, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and other neural-motor disorders.
Low T Treatments:(Androgel, Androderm, Axiron, Fortesta & Testim) Use of these drugs have been linked to heart attack, stroke and pulmonary embolism. Billed as a way to boost testosterone and counteract the effects of aging, Androgel and other “Low T” treatments are also linked with cardiovascular problems leading to strokes, heart attacks and death.
Multag: Used to treat heart rhythm problems, this drug has been known to cause damage to the lungs, liver, and kidneys. If you have experienced kidney failure, respiratory issues, or liver problems since taking Multag, you’ll want to call our firm soon.
Heartburn Drug cases - Drugs, such as Dexilant, Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, Portonix and Zegerid, are commonly taken to prevent heartburn. But concerns are mounting that they may cause dementia, kidney disease and other problems like intestinal infections, bone fractures, low magnesium levels and more.
Taxotere: This drug is the most commonly prescribed chemotherapy medication given to women with breast cancer. However, some women have recently reported permanent hair loss, or Alopecia, after taking it.
Valsartan - From 1996 to 2018, the drug Valsartan was approved by the FDA to treat high blood pressure. Valsartan has been recalled for its relationship with certain cancers, including stomach cancer, liver cancer, and bladder cancer.
Viagra: If you took Viagra and have been diagnosed with melanoma, call our firm immediately. Viagra use has been linked to skin cancer, so you may be entitled to compensation.
Zantac/Ranitide - In 2019, the FDA issued a statement that Zantac, as well as the generic form of this drug, ranitidine, may contain a human carcinogen called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). Common cancers linked to exposure to Zantac include bladder cancer, esophageal cancer, kidney cancer, liver cancer, and thyroid cancer, among others.
Zofran/Zuplenz: Prescribed by doctors to treat morning sickness during pregnancy, studies have linked these drugs to birth defects and manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline is being accused of marketing the drug without FDA approval.
