DEFECTIVE MEDICAL PRODUCT LAWYERS IN MICHIGAN
HOLDING MANUFACTURERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR PAIN, SUFFERING, & MEDICAL CARE
If you or a loved one has been injured by a defective medical product, Fieger Law can help. Medical device manufacturers have a responsibility to ensure that the products they make and sell are safe. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. And it can be hard to hold big business responsible for defective products that cause injury or even death.

In fact, it’s our mission—built into the very foundation of our firm. If you have been affected by a faulty, defective, or recalled medical product, we can navigate complex medical product liability laws on your behalf.
We have the talent and resources to do what it takes to get you justice.
What Is Medical Device Product Liability Law?
Product Liability law provides compensation for physical injuries resulting from defective and unreasonably dangerous products, as well as from the failure of a manufacturer or seller to warn the consumer of product dangers. The manufacturer may have even recalled the product due to risk to the consumer.
If you have been injured or affected by a defective medical product, Fieger Law, located in Southfield, is here for you. Because the nature of medical devices are that they are necessary for health (not just a luxury), medical device manufacturers must be held to far higher standard.

Paragard is an IUD (an intrauterine birth control device) that utilizes copper rather than hormones. With a defective or broken device, a patient can suffer from all of the following, among others: pelvic pain, expulsion, infections, perforation of the uterus, and scarring.
Hernia mesh is a flexible mesh that is used to support the weakened tissue from a hernia. Several types of hernia mesh products, including Atrium C-Qur, Ethicon Physiomesh, have been recalled due to painful and often disastrous side effects. Some of the common complications include pain, infection, perforation, and obstruction.
Bone cement has been used to attach parts of a knee implant to human bone during a knee replacement surgery. Failure of the bone cement can occur, however, because the bond that the cement uses is often not as strong. Some of the side effects include persistent pain, new chronic pain, loosening, and instability.
Defective Hip/Joint Replacements
If you received a hip implant or other joint replacement and are experiencing complications, you may be able to sue the manufacturer for damages. Metal-on-metal hip replacements may fail prematurely or cause an array of complications. One such complication would be metallosis. This is a condition that causes inflammation and erosion of the bone structure. Other complications can include blood clots, infections at the incision site, bone fracture, and dislocation of the hip joint.
Defective Knee Replacements
Knee replacement surgeries can change one’s life for the better. A knee implant can fail due to wear and tear, infection, and the loosening of the implant. When a knee failure does occur, extreme pain and swelling can result. Some of the common knee replacement lawsuits are associated with Exactech® Optetrak®, Depuy, Zimmer Biomet, Stryker, Smith & Nephew, among others.
Jet 7 Xtra Flex Catheter
A recall was recently issued for Jet 7 Xtra Flex catheters, which are commonly used in surgical procedures to remove blot clots, after a series of deaths occurred that are linked to the product malfunctioning. As a result of the defective catheters expanding, fracturing, and/or separating mid-procedure, numerous patients suffered severe and sometimes fatal injuries including hemorrhage, brain bleeds, and stroke.
